Castelnuovo is the most populous hamlet of the municipality of Asola, in the province of Mantua, just a few kilometers north of the capital.
Here around 1200 the town of Brescia built a castle (Castrum Novum), after which the hamlet is named.
The lake is less than 30 km away, and from Castelnuovo it is only a few minutes to Asola, halfway between Mantua and Cremona, from which it is about 35 km.
